POSITION MISSION

The Hardware Engineer, reporting to the Team Leader, will take care of the complete hardware and firmware design of digital electronics, from the initial phase (component selection, resource estimation) up to the digital design for programmable devices (FPGA and SoC, CPLD, microcontroller)

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACTIVITIES

• Definition of Technical specifications, hardware requirements and implementations for digital designs targeting FPGAs and SoC, CPLDs, microcontrollers;
• Estimate implementation effort for given tasks
• Design and simulation of schematics, selection of electronics components
• PCB design
• Design and development of appropriate test hardware and procedures to prove the correct operation of hardware;
• Maintenance, debug and redesign of existing projects;
• Customer interface on hardware issues (internal customer, service department)
• Simple digital design in VHDL code (FPGA design) and software design in C/C++ code (software for SoC/microprocessor design);
• Documentation of design specifications and implementation details;
• Collaboration with other team members (including optical, hardware, firmware and software engineers) to define higher-level system designs, interfaces and protocols, etc.;

QUALIFICATIONS/KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED/TECHNICAL SKILLS

• Degree in Electronics or Telecommunications Engineering
• Design of electronic board based on programmable logics (FPGA, SoC, microprocessor), schematics and PCB layout
• Design for EMC compliance, EMC troubleshooting
• Design for manufacturing and testability
• Experience with PCB design tools (Altium preferred)
• Experience with laboratory instruments and tools (multimeter, oscilloscope, etc.)
• (Nice to have) Knowledge of Hardware Description Language for FPGA design, VHDL (preferable) or Verilog
• (Nice to have) Knowledge of Xilinx/AMD and Altera/Intel FPGA design suites (ISE, Vivado, Quartus)
• (Nice to have) knowledge of C/C++ for embedded microprocessors or microcontrollers
• Good knowledge of written and spoken English
• Availability for sporadic national and international travels
