In the context of the design and development of Diagnostic Systems for railway applications, MERMEC is looking for candidates for the position of SYSTEM ENGINEER



The work consists in performing engineering activities on all the products of the Diagnostic Systems Business Unit within but Application and Development projects, providing technical support to all the stakeholders in relation to all the engineering aspects of the product, like technical advisory and operative activities. The candidate shall work within a System Engineering Team reporting to the System Engineering Team Leader and be allocated to specific Product or Application Teams according to the workplan.


Engineering Activities:

·          Calibration & Tuning

·          Data Analysis

·          Investigation and Problem Solving

·          Technical Advisory

·          Electrical measurements

·          Mechanical measurements

·          Systems operating


Software activities:

·          OS installation and configuration

·          Network configuration and diagnostic

·          Software installation and configuration

·          Standard OS maintenance activities



The ideal candidate has an electronic or computer science engineering background, with at least two years of working experience in electronic, automotive, railway or oil & gas industry, good communication and autonomy skills, knowledge of English and Italian, availability to travel within the country and abroad. A preliminary training period of 2-4 months will take place before the start of the activities. The training (or part of it) could eventually take place at the parent company facility in Italy.

Position Mission   Service Engineer is responsible for offering after-sales assistance and support to the Customer. He/She deals with the management and resolution of problems that may arise during the use of the products and services offered by the Company by working mainly remotely (email, telephone, etc.). The objective of the Service Engineer is to guarantee a high level of Customer satisfaction in terms of quality and timeliness of the response and the operational continuity of the Company.   Responsibilities   The main responsibilities of the Service Engineer are: • Interact with the Customer in a professional and effective manner • Keep the Register of Assistance Requests updated (tickets, claims, etc.) • Collaborate with other Departments (e.g. R&D, T&C, PMO, QC, etc.) to ensure the correct functioning and development of products • Monitor warehouse stocks and provide feedback to Production • Check and update the software of returned products and spare parts • Supervise Suppliers during product repairs • Check that the Maintenance Manuals are up to date • Manage Warranty and Extra-Warranty Orders (issue of offers, invoicing, etc.)     Technical Skills, Qualifications and Professional Experience   • Bachelor's/Master's Degree in Engineering (preferably Industrial Curriculum) • Minimum experience of 1 year as a Service Engineer in Angel Company or in Industrial Realities (preferably Railway Sector) • Fluent level of English (written and spoken) • In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Office and ERP software (preferably SAP) • Strong analytical, planning, organisation, communication and problem solving skills

Mission V&V Engineer verify that Diagnostic Systems installed on board of diagnostic vehicles are compliant with the scope of supply of the specific project and with the related requirements specifications.   Responsibilities V&V Engineer will be part of the team that verifies, tests and certificates Railways Diagnostic Systems, reporting to the related Team Leader.   According to the specific Diagnostic System category the V&V Engineer will be assigned, the following activities will be developed: - Gain experience about a specific diagnostic system, learning from the related product specialists; - Write HW/SW integration and acceptance test procedures and reports, in order to verify the compliance of a specific system to the Customer requirements; - Carry out HW/SW integration and factory acceptance tests; - Interact with Electro-Mechanical Design, Electronic & Firmware Design and Software Design departments, about the configurations and the customizations of a specific Diagnostic System; - Provide technical support for the set-up of test chains; - Provide technical support to the Installation, Commissioning & Service department, about the execution of testing and acceptance activities in Customer facilities; - Carry out anomalies and fault analysis; - Take part to meetings with the Customer; - Take part to training programs.   Technical Skills, Qualifications And Professional Experience - Bachelor/Master Degree in Engineering (preferably Electronic/Computer Engineering) - Good communication and decision-making skills; - Ability of team-working; - Previous experience in similar working environment; - Ability of reading and understanding system specification, mechanical design and electrical diagrams - Previous experience in Diagnostic Systems HW/SW integration tests procedures writing; - Previous experience in Diagnostic Systems HW/SW test activites; - Writing of test reports documentation; - Ability of using common laboratory instruments; - Knowledge of Windows operative systems and network LAN; - Fluent in English and Italian.   Workplace: Monopoli (BA)

Position Mission   Responsible for the development, optimization and updating of the project Master Schedule   Responsibilities   - Perform specific assigned activities reporting to the PM of the project.
